Kauri Dieback update

In light of Maratoto being closed down (as per NZ4WDA newsletter and notice), NZ4Wheeling swapped some correspondence to update our previous Kauri Dieback disease article posted in early 2017. NZ4wda have informed the 4×4 community that  All off road tracks in the Maratoto area are now CLOSED to ALL vehicles. This includes the Whangamata (Wires) Track, Loop Road, Waipaheke and all tracks off these tracks. This closure is by order of the Department of Conservation and is due to Kauri Die Back. MD Dirt Drags 2017

Located just outside of Te Awamutu in Parawera, the New Zealand Dirt Drag Championships of 2017 was run yesterday. Known as the MD Dirt Drags it featured weapons and daily drivers from all codes, there were 4 motorcycle classes run, including a PitBike/Mini/Junior class as well as separate classes for 2WD and 4WD’s and a special class for Buggy/Quad/Go-Kart class. As a combined effort between Auckland 4wd Club and the Land Rover Owners Club, this year’s Muriwai beach clean-up was wet and wild. Held on Sunday 1st October, the weather was pretty miserable at the start of the day. The volunteers, who ranged from all different clubs and groups, gathered in the car park, awaiting briefing.
